Join our power
yoga class!

Power Yoga is a dynamic & flowing (Vinyasa) practice that
builds superior strength, improves flexibility & mobility, balance
& co-ordination. This style of Yoga offers a blend of sweat and
spirituality which sculpts the body & calms the mind. This class
caters for all levels from beginners to the more experienced.
Yoga is the perfect complement to Martial Arts both physically
& mentally. They both share similar philosophies such as
“it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey”.
Both require continuous, committed practice to attain your goals.

About the class

Simon Duncan will be your Instructor. He has been teaching Group Exercise since 2007. He is a qualified Fitness Instructor, Yoga Instructor, Pilates Instructor & Aqua Instructor. Very experienced & highly qualified individual. He also has a strong passion & involvement in Martial Arts. He is currently 5th Dan in Taekwondo (ITF) & 1st Dan in Hapkido (AHF).

Simon has always believed it is important to balance out hard training such as martial arts with softer disciplines such as Yoga & Pilates. Yoga is like the Yin & Martial Arts is like the Yang. This is one of the key reasons why Simon is in great shape & condition for his age.

Due to Simon’s Martial Art background & in-depth knowledge of anatomy, Simon knows which muscles need to strengthen & which muscles need to be lengthened. This will be especially valuable to us as Hapkido students.

How do I join up?

We always recommend taking advantage of the 3-Session Trial Pass before you commit to joining our club. This pass will provide a temporary insurance cover and training for 3 separate classes. This is another good opportunity for you to experience what Northern Beaches Hapkido has to offer.

What to do for your first class?

Come down at least 15 mins before start of class to meet the Instructor who will help you out and explain what to do.

Wear comfortable loose clothing, shorts/tights/yoga pants and T-Shirt

Wearing a Hapkido Uniform is optional for this class.

Bring a drink bottle and small towel

It is always nerve racking trying something new. No need to be, our Instructors and students will make you feel welcome and explain how the class will be run. You won’t be expected to do anything out of your comfort zone , and your Instructor will give you plenty of rest breaks if needed. Beginners and white belts are strategically placed towards the back of the class.

Classes are usually structured so that students mix around and get to train with each other, at times grouped within their levels of experience, other times learning from more senior levels. There will always be someone to train with, but especially for children feel free to bring a friend along to share the experience with.

If on the other hand you have had previous Martial Arts experience or already have a good level of fitness, your Instructor will recognise this and assure you are challenged to an enjoyable class.
